The Ceremony

Yes! All our celebrants are fully qualified Authorised Civil Marriage Celebrants. Your marriage will meet all the legal requirements of the Australian Government, and will be registered immediately following the ceremony.

Once you choose your date and pay the ceremony fee, your ceremony is locked in. Our Celebrant Team will be in touch immediately to organise your legal paperwork and ensure all requirements are met.

The Australian Government requires that a couple give one calendar month’s notice before marrying. We will ensure that this requirement is met when you book in your date.

Your Ceremony Fee includes 12 guests. You’re welcome to add others (up to a maximum of 20) - just select the additional guests in the Add Ons shop and pay the fee.

Your Ceremony Fee includes:
20 minute ceremony time slot in our boutique interior-designed space;
all legal paperwork;
ring exchange;
experienced Commonwealth Registered Civil Marriage Celebrant;
registration of your marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages; and
12 guests (plus the couple)

No! We’re here to stay. Book with the confidence that The Courthouse Registry is a permanent establishment. We offer some special-event themed ceremonies that will be styled differently (for example, Valentines Day!), but the rest of the year you can expect The Courthouse Registry to be as is!

Life happens - we understand that some circumstances require less notice than the required 30 days. The government allows for a certain number of exceptions to the notice rule, and we’re delighted to assist you with preparing your application for a Shortening of Time. Yes! There is no residency requirement to be legally married in Australia.

Of course! Our beautiful space is designed with an aisle-walk in mind!
The legal vows and ring exchange are included in your Ceremony Fee. If you would like to also exchange personal vows, you can add that as an optional extra.

We would be honoured to play a part in your big day, and we welcome all couples to our space - regardless of who you love.

Australian Law requires that couples give one calendar month’s notice before marrying.
There are some exceptions to this rule, so please reach out to our team and we can assist you.
If you have your NOIM completed and lodged with another company or celebrant, we can absolutely arrange for a transfer of your NOIM and marry you at The Courthouse Registry! Please reach out to our team to chat through the options.

Of course! We can accomodate this - just let our celebrant team know at the time of signing your Notice of Intended Marriage.

As soon as you book your ceremony - we will reach out to you with next steps about signing your paperwork. We conduct all paperwork signings online - no need for a ‘marriage interview’

We sure can! After your marriage is registered, we will send you a guide on how to change your name.

This will vary according to your circumstances, but at a minimum you will need:
your Notice of Intended Marriage; and
evidence of your place and date of birth (birth certificate or passport).
Our team will be in contact once your ceremony is booked to ensure we have all the documents we need to get you legally hitched!

Photgraphy

Given the nature of our space, and in order to ensure we offer our couples the best possible experience - we strongly encourage you to use our in-house photographer for your ceremony, but we can accomodate your photographer!

Led by internationally-renowned high-fashion and wedding photographer India Hartford Davis, The Courthouse Registry is proud to partner with Dear Human Photography.

While we can’t guarantee a specific photographer from the Dear Human team - we can promise they are an extraordinarily talented, highly experienced bunch!

Unfortunately, we’re not able to arrange a meeting between you and a member of the Dear Human team before your ceremony. That being said - they are all experienced wedding photographers, and have a knack for quickly putting couples at ease, and ensuring you are comfortable throughout your portrait session.

Not at all! We offer a range of photography options for couples who would like to use the same photographer for their portrait session, but we understand you might want your own photographer after the ceremony.
We are unable to accomodate external photographers for your ceremony. -

Flowers and Styling

You sure can! We have partnered with. the most incredible florist to offer you a range of beautiful flowers to complement your ceremony. Check the Add Ons page for the options.

Of course! All personal flowers (bouquets / boutonnieres) can be external.
Unfortuantely, we do not allow external flowers for styling our plinths

We do not allow external decorations for your ceremony.
We may be able to accomodate religious decorative items (for example, the hanging of Double Happiness Xi / 囍 Symbols) - please reach out to our team to discuss.

Our incredibly talented partner florists create a ceremony arrangement that you can add to your ceremony as the perfect backdrop to your ceremony photos.

Each week, our partner florists create flowers in both a coloured and white palette using the freshest seasonal blooms. When you order your flowers, you can choose either coloured flowers of classic white.

Beyond your colour choice - you leave the floral design to us! Our expert florists have decades of experience in weddings, and will create you something extraordinary.
